District Ferozepur
- Ferozepur, founded by Firoz Shah Tughlaq in the 14th century, has a rich historical legacy deeply rooted in its role as a trade hub along the route to Lahore.
- During the 19th century, Ferozepur gained significance as a British cantonment. During the Anglo-Sikh Wars (1845-46 and 1848-49), it witnessed intense battles at Ferozeshah, Mudki and Sabraon that left a lasting impact on its historical landscape. The FirozShah Museum meticulously preserved the bravery of Sikh soldiers who fought in the Anglo-Sikh Wars, offering detailed insights into their valor and contributions to the region's history.
- Ferozepur, also known as the "Land of Martyrs," due to its immense role in India's quest for freedom.People from this region actively participated in the freedom movement, with its residents making significant contributions to the nation's fight for freedom.
- Hussainiwala is the very place where Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were cremated in 1931 after their hangings in Lahore Jail. Batukeshwar Dutt, commonly known as B.K. Dutt was also cremated next to the Samadhis of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. The Hussainiwala memorial also known as National Martyrs’ Memorial is located on the banks of the Sutlej River, stands as a symbol of sacrifice and patriotism, annually hosting the Shaheedi Mela to commemorate the martyrs.
- Post-independence, Ferozepur was an important theater of war during the India-Pakistan wars of 1965 and 1971 wherein soldiers from the Indian Army and BSF successfully defended the Indian territory and laid extreme sacrifice. A War Memorial dedicated to the brave Indian army soldiers was constructed in 2006 at HUssainiwala. Now a war memorial dedicated to the brave BSF Soldiers who laid down their lives defending this nation during 1971 Indo-Pak war is being constructed near Shan-i-Hind Gate.

State Level Basant Mela - 2025
Basant Panchami (देवानागरी: वास्तन पान्चमी) is a spring festival celebrated in Basant. This is also called Saraswati Pooja or Sarpanchi (Devankri: Shirpanagi) and the god of music, education, literature and art is considered in the Vedas. This popular festival related to spring season which is celebrated on Sudi Panj of Magh all over Punjab with great fanfare. Basant Panchami is estimated to be the beginning of spring season. Nowadays it is customary to wear yellow clothes on spring days. With the arrival of spring, new life pulsates throughout Punjab. Small fairs are held in the villages from place to place and people add to the gaiety of these fairs by blooming like mustard flowers. Ferozepur's Basant Panchami is particularly popular.
Basant Panchami is celebrated on 'Shukal Paksha Di Panchami' (5th day). The bright fortnight of the moon occurs in the month of 'Magh' in the Hindu calendar (which corresponds to the month of January-February in the English calendar). It marks the beginning of the spring season or Vasant Ritu in India.

Pecha (Kite Cutting) Challenge
Get ready for the exhilarating "Pecha Challenge," a kite-flying competition set to captivate the skies! This event promises high-flying excitement.
The "Pecha Challenge" is a fun and exciting kite-flying competition. It's not just about flying kites but also cutting other kites in the air. Participants, divided into categories by age and gender, aim to showcase their kite-flying skills and strategy. The challenge starts with knockout matches a week before the grand finals, where winners can win significant cash prizes. Safety is essential, so rules are set, and participants need to follow them.
In this challenge, victory belongs to the participant who demonstrates mastery by cutting all other kites in the competition. The ultimate winner is the one who skillfully navigates the sky, outmaneuvering opponents and deftly cutting through the threads that bind their adversaries' kites.
This conquest of the sky symbolizes not only individual triumph but a declaration of dominance over the entire aerial arena.
The competition has Four categories with exciting prizes:
- 1. Last Surviving Kite in Male Competition : ₹ 50,000
- 2. Last Surviving Kite in Female Competition : ₹ 50,000
- 3. Last Surviving Kite in Under - 10 Competition (Male) : ₹ 50,000
- 4. Last Surviving Kite in Under - 10 Competition (Female) : ₹ 50,000
The knockout matches lead to the grand finals on January 27th and 28th, 2025. Safety is a priority with clear rules and guidelines in place.
Sabse Bada Patangbaaz
"Sabse Bada Patang Baaz" is a cool competition where people try to fly the biggest kites for a whole 10 minutes. It's like a challenge to see who can make the most massive and impressive kite. The best part? No rules on how big the kites can be! The winner gets a big prize of ₹ 2,00,000. But here's the catch – they have to use eco-friendly stuff like paper or fabric to make their kites. Everyone brings their own kites and threads, making it a creative and fun event. So, if you love flying kites and want to show off your skills with a gigantic one, this is the competition for you!
